BAKU. September 10, 2008: Turkey has never rejected the projects, which it has already started and it will not reject the Nabucco project, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Hilmi Guler said at today’s press conference in Baku.
The Turkish minister said he has discussed the implementation of the Nabucco project in Kazakhstan and Tukmenistan and now the discussions have started in Baku. Guler intends to inform the EU organizations about results of these talks.
Responding to a question about the possibility of construction of Nabucco gas pipeline branch via Armenia, Guler answered “he heard of that for the first time.” The Turkish minister also said he disagreed with the opinion that Turkey had “betrayed” Georgia and kept silence during the Russian aggression against Georgia because of its energy dependence on Russia.
Hilmi Guler said Turkey supported the policy of diversification of the energy sources and had agreements with Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan (Turan). |
