Musavat Held "Unauthorized" Protest Action In Baku
BAKU. June 12, 2010: Today Musavat party held an “unauthorized” action of protest in Javid Square in downtown Baku. Click for video The police dispersed the activity and arrested over 30 people. Some of the arrested received a police warning and released and some of them were fined for “breaking public order.” Two people – Ramiz Khalilov, the chairman of Lachin branch of Musavat and Abulfaz Gurbanli, the chairman of the youth organization of Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) were sentenced to ten days of imprisonment. The opposition demands respect for the right to freedom of assembly. The Azerbaijani government insists on pushing the opposition to hold all of its public activities on the fringes of the city (Azerireport).
